The company combines nepheline ore and bauxite ore in the production of aluminum. The company came into existence in 2007 after the merger of SUAL and RUSAL. UC RUSAL provides employment to more than 100,000 people. The company operates in 17 countries around the world.

Another leading company in the production of aluminum is Alcoa. The company deals in the automotive, aerospace, packing, and construction industries .It has more than 125,000 employees spread across 44 countries of the world. Alcoa owns OJSC Samara Metallurgical Plant in Russia. It also owns OJSC Belaya Kalitva Metallurgical Indsutrial Amalgamation in Russia.

Alcan is another metal company with its headquarters in Canada. The century old company is a major leader in aluminum production in the world. It produces bauxites, aluminum and alumina. It is reported to be one among the three major giants producers of aluminum in the world. The company has over 68,000 employees. It runs its operations from 61 across the globe.

Aluminum Corporation of China Limited or Chalco is one of the leading manufacturers of aluminum in the world. The company is situated in China. It was founded in 2001 when the Chinese aluminum industry was privatized. Another noted manufacturer of aluminum is Hydro Aluminum. The company has its operations in Brazil and Jamaica. It owns aluminum smelter in Australia, Germany, Norway, Canada and Slovakia. The company aims at spreading its business in Russia also. It has employed 26,000 people.

BHP Billiton is among the largest mining companies. The company came into existence 2001 by the merger of the Australian Broken Hill Properties company and the British Billiton.

Dubai Aluminum is another giant in aluminum manufacturers that was formed in 1979. It produced only 136,000 m.t.p.a. initially. However, today it is among the leaders in the world. At present, it produces 900,000 m.t.p.a. of aluminum.
